ESL Pronunciation and Conversation, Certificate of Competency (Noncredit)

A two-course certificate of competency in noncredit English as a Second Language (ESL). The Pronunciation and Conversation certificate courses are designed to support English Language Learners and adult immigrants in developing clear pronunciation of American English and comprehensibility at an intermediate level. Students build vocabulary and gain confidence in communication skills to increase work opportunities and community involvement.

What Courses or Activities it takes to earn this badge

  1. Successfully complete NC006, the Pronunciation and Conversation: Beyond ESL Basics course in the SBCC Noncredit English as a Second Language program.

  2. Successfully complete NC007, the Pronunciation and Conversation Intermediate course in the SBCC Noncredit English as a Second Language program.

  3. Demonstrate the ability to understand dialogues spoken by speakers of English. Participate in increasingly complex conversations using learned vocabulary.
